FGIF Image Gallery – FAQ
01. What is the FGIF Image Gallery Service?
The FGIF Image Gallery is part of the Bravenet.com Professional Photo Album
Service. It allows you to upload digital photos so that they can be edited, published
and displayed in various Albums. The images can then be shared and viewed by
all visitors to the site.
02. What are the main features of this Service?
The Professional Photo Album service provides the following features:
-All advertising is removed.
-You have an unlimited amount of pictures and albums.
-You can load images from other websites.
03. What sort of
photos are found in the Albums?
The vast majority of images shown in
the Albums portray a range of ground, action and match day pictures taken by
photographers attending both professional and non-league football grounds and
matches at home and abroad.
04. Are the Albums
arranged in any particular order?
Yes. The Albums listed in the royal
blue panel on the left cover most of the major football leagues found in the
football pyramid. These are generally listed in order of importance and
geographical location. The menu includes not only British football but also
matches played overseas. There are also several special Albums (featuring Groundhops, Defunct grounds etc). See the notes relating to
‘Browsing the Albums’ found on the Gallery Home page).
05. How can I view photos in the FGIF Image Gallery?
You can view any of the images published in the Gallery by clicking on one of
the red Album icons listed in the royal blue display panel running down the
left hand side of the Gallery Home page. The Album selected will then open with
the first page showing up to 20 thumbnail images.
06. How can I view individual photos shown in the Albums.
Left click on any thumbnail shown on
the page. This will enlarge it to make viewing easier. The legend underneath
will provide information about the photo and usually acknowledges the
photographer/person who sent it.
07. How can I return to the Album so that I can look at another
photo?
After viewing an image you can return
to the Album you have already selected by left clicking the green Back arrow
highlighted on the main toolbar. This can be found at the top of the page on
the left hand side. To move on to another page in the Album simply select the
number indicator link shown beneath the thumbnails.
08. This all sounds a bit time-consuming. Is it possible to
find a particular ground photo without searching through each Album?
Yes! You can access any photo in the
Gallery by looking in either the A to Z Club or League Index first. Many
viewers prefer to do this by clicking on the links provided on the Gallery Home
page.
09. Can visitors to the site copy and save any of the photos?
Yes! A facility provided by Bravenet.com allows visitors to copy and save any
photo displayed in the Image Gallery.
10. How I can I do this?
Select an image and left click to open it. Next right click on it. This will
open a small display panel on the screen. Select the ‘Save Picture’ option and
using your Browser facility decide where you would
like to store the photo (for example, in the ‘My Pictures’ folder in Windows).
11. Will it cost me anything to do this?
No. The
service is absolutely free for all users. As the site logo states: FGIF is ‘made for
travellers by travellers’!
12. Is it possible for visitors to E-Mail photos from the Photo
Albums?
Yes, you can also E-Mail any of the photos shown in the Image Gallery?
13. But how I can I do this?
To E-Mail photos firstly select an image and left click to open it. You will
find two options underneath the picture prompting you to E-Mail the image (to
yourself or to a friend). Choose one of these and follow the instructions by
entering the appropriate E-Mail address you are going to use. The image will
then be sent to this address and accessed like any other E-Mail message by the
person to whom it is sent.
14. I have just taken some digital photos and would like to send them to
FGIF. How do I go about this?
From the Image Gallery Home page click on "Upload Images" under the
royal blue "Control Panel" area at the top left hand side of the
page. Use the dropdown box to select the album to upload to. In the
"Select Images" section, select the number of photos you would like
to upload from the dropdown box. Click on the "Upload Images
>>" button to proceed to the next step. Use the browse button to
select the image(s) from your hard drive. Click "Upload Images
>>" to transfer the files. Enter a title and description for your
image, then click "Continue to Manager >>" to save your
settings.
For more detailed
instructions go to the link below: ‘Sending your Images to FGiF’.
15. What happens next?
Once the photos are sent to FGIF an
E-Mail message is received by WebEd to acknowledge
this. The pictures are then ready to be published and edited.
16. How soon can I view the images I have just sent to FGIF?
When the images arrive at FGIF they are automatically placed into a Private
Album ready for viewing by the WebEd (this complies
with the Bravenet.com security policy). These photos are then edited and
published in the ‘New User Uploads Album’ (No.51) when the site is updated.
17. Will all of my images appear in the Gallery?
The number of photos which can be
published depends on several factors: sometimes there may be a file error in
sending photos and they are simply not processed; the images may be of poor
quality (for example: under or over exposed); space in the Gallery limits the
number of pictures which can be added; the file may be excessively large or
perhaps there may be some duplicity (several copies of similar images).
Wherever possible most photos sent in are used. The decision to edit and
publish any photo obviously remains the right of the WebEd.
18. Will my name
appear with the photos?
Yes. All photos have a picture credit
acknowledging the name of the photographer/sender.
19. Some of the images I have sent to FGIF may be a bit dark. Can
you still publish them for me?
Very often we receive photos which may
be under or over-exposed (in other words, the images may be too light or too
dark). Where possible these are edited using a computer program called ‘Paint
Shop Pro’ to eliminate such effects. They will then be published in the normal
way.
20. The thumbnails on the Album page don’t look the same as the images
I have sent in. What’s gone wrong?
In order for the album pages to look consistent, your pictures are
automatically adjusted to always be a square shape, using the left or top area
of the image. Not to worry. When you click on an image it will look like the
one you sent in!
I hope this helps to answer some of
your questions. If you need any more help concerning these or any other points
contact FGIF.
Thanks
Martin
