Thursday 28th April - Latest Images: Bob Davies - View all the matchday photos from last night's Bedfordshire County Football League Prem Div fixture at Dunton (v Blunham)...now added to the new FGIF album gallery...

Bob adds (via E-Mail): 'Into the Bedfordshire League (this evening) and a trip to Dunton to see the Premier Division clash against Blunham. A win for the visitors this evening would see the Premier Division title heading for Blunham. The match itself although not a great spectacle for the 40 or so spectators served up one of the shocks of the season. Dunton more than matched the title chasing visitors and a goal in each half gave them a deserved 2-0 win as Blunham faded as the sun went down! The title will now be decided on Saturday with Blunham requiring a win at home to Caldercote. Chasing in second place are Shefford Town & Campton one point behind but with an inferior goal difference. Only a win for them at lowly AFC Kempston Town will put them in with a chance if Blunham slip up again. After tonight who knows what awaits both teams at the weekend'.

Bob adds (via separate E-Mails): 'I decided to go for rare programme issuer (Wootton Village FC) in the Beds League yesterday with a visit to Wootton Village. I've attached some match photos from the game which took place in very warm conditions indeed! The programme scan will be sent later...'

'Please find attached in two some photographs from today's Championship decider in the Zamaretto Division One Central at Hitchin Town FC. Prior to the kick off there was a minute's silence in memory of former Hitchin Town player Terry Craddock who had passed away during the past week. Terry Craddock 74, was one of the key figures in the great Hitchin Town team that reached two FA Amateur Cup semi-finals in the early 1960s. The match was a tense affair for the 1508 spectators present and it was Hitchin who had the better of the first half. In the second period the game really needed a goal and in the 70th minute it was Arlesey Town's Stuart Sinclair that scored the winner and gave the Championship to the Bedfordshire side. The final twenty minutes was probably the most exciting as both goal keepers produced some excellent saves to keep their respective sides in the game'.

'Please find attached some pictures from Great Shelford v Somersham Town game played (tonight) in the Kershaw Cambridgeshire League Premier Division. With a K.O time of 18.45 requested by the visitors the game was reduced to 40 minutes each way. A goal in each half resulted in a 2-0 win for the home side, the second coming in gathering gloom of three minutes from time'.

Monday 18th April - Unwanted Record: WebEd - Whilst checking out the latest fixture info from the excellent Central & South Norfolk League website I came across the very latest league News Bulletin following last Saturday's round of matches...spare a thought for Dereham Cockers United FC (Div 4) who are probably glad that their season is almost over...it reads:

'Two of the League’s long standing records were broken as a result of the Division 4 fixture between Diss Town A and Dereham Cockers Utd which Diss won 36-0. This becomes the biggest win in League history and, in so doing, breaks the previous record of 32-0 established by Hingham Athletic in November 1997. The defeat also took Dereham Cockers’ goals against tally for the season to 236 which breaks the previous record of 233 held by Mulbarton United Reserves since the 1979/80 season'.

WebEd - Phew!! Apparently this is not the first time they have been hammered this season...for more go to the Results Section of the site: http://www.csnleague.co.uk/index.html or click on the Full-Time link (and scoll Div 4) at: http://full-time.thefa.com/Index.do?league=552112 . Sunday 10th April - Latest Images: Bob Davies - Two for One Deal! Don't miss Bob's impressive matchday pictures from a busy afternoon with hops to Foxton (v Newmarket Town Reserves) in the Cambs County League Premier Div and Ware (v Enfield Town) in the Ryman League Div 1 North both played yesterday and now added to the new FGIF album gallery...

Bob adds (via E-Mail): 'For third week running a trip into Cambridgeshire for the match between Foxton and Newmarket Town reserves in the Premier Division of Kershaw Cambridgeshire League.

Foxton's ground is situated on the Recreation ground in Hardman Road that is just off the High Street. I took the A10 from Royston and the first turning signposted Foxton. Follow the road into the village and just past the White Horse pub turn right into Hardman Drive. There is a small car park on the left by the church and another car park at the Pavillion.

From the Foxton website some info on the club: "Foxton football club is one of the oldest and foremost clubs in the local area and has been running now for over 100 years with records of matches taking place in the very early 1900’s. Originally it was part of what was known as the Foxton and District League from which the Foster cup originated, until joining the Cambs FA league system shortly after its conception in 1920. The Club has played at the village recreation ground now since the 1950’s and before that games took place on land provided by farmers within and around the village. The Rec is public land and its excellent surface is also enjoyed by Foxton kid’s football team ‘foxton dynamos’, the cricket club and for village community activities. Foxton FC was awarded ground of the year in 2003".

The match itself was played in very warm conditions and was decided by a single goal scored in the 13th minute by an Asher Wilson goal, a good finish  from the edge of the box into the bottom right hand corner. Newmarket had plenty of possession but failed to create a serious threat to challenge the home sides narrow lead. With five minutes remaining Foxton thought they had doubled their lead after Ian Cambridge poked the ball home, only to see the effort ruled out for off side.

No programme was produced but the club are willing to listen if anybody wants to give it it go! They do however have a good website; http://www.foxtonfc.co.uk/'

'Following on from my visit to Foxton I called in at Ware for the last 30 minutes of their Ryman League Division One North fixture against Enfield Town. It was already 1-0 to Ware when I arrived but Enfield equalised on 80 minutes with a Liam Hope finish from close range. Just when everybody thought it was "a point a piece" Ware scored a winner through substitute Leigh Rose who capitalised on an error from the Enfield keeper Rob Blackburne to give Ware an unexpected win over their A10 rivals.

Then to complete the day it down to Rye House to see the Hackney Hawks make a return to speedway after a considerable absence from the sport'.

The game was a very tense but entertaining affair with both teams up to the challenge. Over 100 people were present on an overcast afternoon. It was Stotfold that finally broke the deadlock in the closing minutes with what proved the only goal of the game scored by Andre Pierce.

The programme for the game was produced by MK Publications and very good it was too. Twenty pages of stats, pen pictures, a quiz and full details of the Bedfordshire F.A. Cup final played and to play this season. Very good value and only a £1. Cover added onto the pictures attached'.

Sunday 3rd April - Latest Images: Gary Spooner - Just In!! You won't want to miss these photos...check out Gary's magnificent pix taken during a recent midweek trip to Sweden...covering the Euro 2012 Qualifying Group E fixture between Sweden and Moldova played at the incredible Rasunda Stadion in Solna, Stockholm on 29/03/11...now added to the new FGIF album gallery...

Gary writes (via E-Mail): 'Although the first view on exiting Solna Centrum T-Bana station was not particularly attractive, the Rasunda stadium made me go WOW upon entering and not because I had just climbed an awful lot of stairs!

Tickets for block 210 in the top tier of the North Stand  were 275 KR (£27.50 approx) and were readily available on www.ticnet.se. (Incidentally, tickets are currently on sale on same website at same price for the Euro qualifier between Sweden v Finland at the Rasunda on June 7th).  The view was amazing - I'm sure my photos won't do it justice. Even more amazing was looking upwards to see the massive stand we were in had wooden beams. A 48 page glossy A4 sized programme was available for 20 kr, cracking value when compared to English league programmes and even better value when compared to Wembley programme prices.

After the game we ventured into the Stockholm. I can thoroughly recommend Citykrogen Bar and Restaurant on Vasagatan, a short walk from Stockholm Central station. Behind the bar was Anna, an AC Milan fan from Helsinki.  She was an excellent host and as unimpressed with the performance of Ibrahimovic as we had been. Despite his penalty miss, Sweden had managed a 2-1 victory in front of 25,500 fans.

Those who have not visited the Rasunda yet have just one season left to do so.  A visit is highly recommended - just make sure you take plenty of spending money!'
