With news that the SPL is to form a second division Andy feels that this will inevitably make the rich clubs become richer and the poor poorer ...we learn that Darlington and Weymouth are just two of the latest clubs in deep financial trouble..the question is: who will be next? Michael Owen undergoes yet more treatment...and if you're going to Paisley to take in a game at St Mirren make sure you check when the game is on! Not to be missed!

Wednesday 25 February - TT No.155: Andy Gallon - 'The self-proclaimed 'little brother' of the 'real' Reds was set up last summer to fill a void in the lives of those for whom visits to Anfield were no longer an option. It provided an outlet to remain part of what the new club describes, with cloying sentimentality, as the 'community of Reds'. Tuesday 24 February - Caerwys FC News: Mark Jones - writes: 'Hi there Martin, can you find a space on your site for this news snippet from the Clwyd League website which will be of interest to many hoppers. FGIF has always been very supportive in covering North Wales football:
Caerwys FC of Clwyd League Division One are nearing completion of phase 1 of the New Pavilion at the Community Football Ground www.footballgroundsinfocus.com/myPictures/CaerwysFeb09.jpg The 40' x 20' timber framed building has just had the roof tiles fitted. The old Presco Unit has been put to one side and will be in use for the remainder of the season (albeit there are no showers). The £74,000 project has been part-funded by Flintshire County Council. The Club who are still members of the Welsh FA had their application for funding from the FAW turned down on the grounds that they were no longer in the top three tier of Welsh Football, so how are the smaller clubs ever going to make any progress in the so called pyramid system ? The NWCFA who also have a large pot of money generated mainly from fines also turned down an application for funding. The Club has contributed nearly £3,000 of their own funds towards the project and are banking on Flintshire County Council and Caerwys Town Council to assist them with additional funds or the project will have to come to a stop. Friday 20 February - St Ives Town v Marske Utd (FAV5) news: WebEd - According to the SITFC website: 'The following plan has been put in place for this Saturday's (21/2/09) FA Vase tie at Home to Marske Utd. The hope is that it will take place at Westwood Road with a 3pm kick off. At the request of Marske Utd, a pitch inspection by a nominated FA Official will take place by mid-day on Friday lunchtime in the hope that the tie can go ahead. If the outcome of this inspection and of course our lovely British weather is that the Official decides that our pitch is unplayable the game will be moved to Cambridge City Football Club on Sunday 22nd February with a 1pm Kick Off. Some people have already asked why the game can not be arranged straighaway at Cambridge City, unfortunately the FA directive for this competition states that ties have to be played at your Home ground and that a game can only be moved once all avenues have been explored. A furthar update will appear on this site when the pitch inspection has taken place on Friday'.
Thursday 19 February - Fixture Information: Brian Buck - 'I saw in last night's Cambridge Evening News that if St Ives cannot stage their FA Vase match against Marske this coming Saturday then it will take place at Cambridge City on Sunday with a 1pm kick off...Tonight's match between Wootton Blue Cross and Biggleswade Town in the Hunts Premier Cup has been postponed again due electrical problems this time!
Thursday 19 February - TT No.152: Andy Gallon - our senior reporter takes in a mid-week game for the first time in a few weeks and writes: 'If North West Counties League officials reject Barnoldswick Town's 2009-10 membership application, they will be shooting themselves in the foot big time. For here is a go-ahead little club which would be a major asset to a rather hit-and-miss competition. Thursday 19 February - Programme Review: Bob Davies - 'Two programmes for the price of one! Managed to get to my first evening fixture for two months last night! Cheshunt played Wingate and Finchley in a Ryman Div 1 North fixture. The original fixture had been abandoned because of bad weather. Selling at the ground were 2 programmes for the night. The first was the original from the abandoned game and the second an insert which contained upto date line ups and the Ryman Bulletin from the weekend. The insert sold seperately for 50p but if like me and wanted both it was £2'. Check out all the details of both issues on the PR page for February 2009...

Wednesday 18 February - York City FC Ground News Update: Andy Gallon - writes: 'Tim Atkins, the man employed two months ago by York City Council to deliver a new stadium for York City FC and York City Knights RLFC to share, has revealed the venue may not, after all, be built by 2012. He admitted, contrary to earlier indications from the council, that date was merely a deadline for a satisfactory plan to be submitted to the Football Foundation. Atkins, who has been looking at the rebuilt Deepdale home of Preston North End and the under-construction new stadium for Brighton & Hove Albion, wants York's facility to be used by the community seven days a week. Universities and colleges in the city may also be involved. As part of the fundraising process, KitKat Crescent, where City play, and the Huntington Stadium base, also an athletics track, of the rugby league club, will be sold to developers. Atkins has yet to identify a site for the proposed stadium, which he says is unlikely to accommodate athletics'.

With the axe falling on two more Premiership managers this week, Andy is left in no doubt that we are witnessing the effects of a Greed League culture. With Adams and Scolari losing their jobs it now seems that poor results even over a short period can no longer be tolerated by those in the boardroom. Without stability and continuity there is little chance of success and it's not long before the headlines announce another sacking.... compare this to the commitment shown at Manchester United, Liverpool and Crewe where those at the top have achieved success for years.... whatever happened to loyalty?

The Pocklington v North Ferriby (East Riding Senior Cup) match will now take place at Pocklington on Wednesday 25th Feb under lights at Pocklington and it seems that although they no longer issue regularly they will do something for this match.
