Sunday 23 November - Latest Images: Gary Spooner - the very best ground, action and matchday images from Gary's 'Saturday Double' in Leicester now added to the NEW User Uploads Album for November 2008. The photos are taken from matches at Leicester City Youth (FA Academy League) v MK Dons Youth (in the FA Youth Cup) and St Andrews FC (East Midlands Counties League) v Gedling MW both played yesterday. Sadly this second game was abandoned as Gary writes: 'What happened at this game was the worst incident I have ever seen in 39 years of watching (a lot) of football. With 85 minutes gone there was a bit of a fracas involving several players. After consultation with the linesman, the referee called over one player from each side and booked them. He then asked for the St Andrews No 12 (Joe Preston) to come over and sent him off. The No 12 then put his face into the referee's and said something before turning away, only to turn round again and strike the referee in the face extremely hard with his right fist. The referee was knocked out cold and was lying on the pitch for a long time without moving. (It has since been reported that the referee spent the night in Leicester Royal Infirmary and has a broken cheekbone and a broken jaw in two places.) This was extremely disturbing to see and completely spoilt what up to then had been a good day. Just as infuriating were the comments of one person who said that the ref had been asking for it! I hope it is something I never see happen again on a football pitch or anywhere else'.

Saturday 22 November - Programme Review: Barry Love - the latest from Stranraer Football Club (Scottish Football League Division 2) v Alloa Athletic played on 15/11/08 now added to the PR page for Novembr 2008. Barry writes: 'A weekend up in Scotland allowed me to get in a game at my beloved Stranraer. On Saturday Stranraer and Alloa fought out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Stair Park. Alloa dominated the first half but it was the Blues who opened the scoring thanks to leading goalscorer Grégory Tadé. Craig Frizzell went on a fine run down the right before being chopped down inside the box. For the second week on the trot Tadé sent the goalkeeper wrong way. Stranraer started the second half better but it was Alloa that fought back and went on to gain 2-1 lead. However the Blues rallied late on and never gave in. Alex White's deep free-kick found Man of the Match John Kane and the defender powered his header home to give the Blues a share of the points'. He adds: 'Travellers may also be interested to know that the club is awaiting SFA approval before becoming a Public Company. The Stair Park ground should be safe..' WebEd - Even though Barry lives 'down South' and follows Spurs on a regular basis, he is one of Stranraer Football Club's top fans and travels up to Stair Park whenever he can. He keeps up to date with all the latest club news, fixtures and results and promotional activities by logging on to the excellent club website which has a terrific message board. For more details you can click on the following link at: http://stranraerfc.org//index.php. In addition Barry sponsors one of the players, Danny Mitchell, for home games and is proud to see his name listed in the programme. Incidentally this matchday magazine aptly entitled 'Beyond The Bandstand' is outstanding both in terms of layout and content and is without doubt one of the best in the Second Division. 50p of every sale goes to the Youth Team Development initiative.
