Thursday 29 October - Latest Photos: Andy Gallon - Just in! Andy writes: 'Whilst over in Penrith today (October 27), I called in at Northern League Penrith FC's old Southend Road ground, which they left for the purpose-built Frenchfield Stadium at the start of this season. As you can see, the bulldozers haven't yet razed the place. The club use the pitch, which was due for a trim an hour after my visit, for training sessions. I attach some poignant images - especially so for anyone who visited what used to be a very tidy little ground. WebEd - Andy's photos have been added to the NEW User Uploads Album for October 2009... An old chap, at the ground to supervise the grass cutting, gave me a couple of black and white pictures of a packed Southend Road in the 1950s. I'll scan them, and send them to you as well. In the two pictures, Penrith are in the all white strip. They make an interesting comparison with today's scene!' WebEd - To view these two magnificent black and white action photos taken at a packed ground in the 1950's go to the following FGIF link: www.footballgroundsinfocus.com/PFC50.htm. Absolutely stunning! What a tremendous coup! Cheers Andy. Thursday 29 October - Latest News from FC Halifax Town: Andy Gallon - writes: 'FC Halifax Town: The new £5m East Stand at The Shay will open in February. Builders Hall Construction Ltd say construction work is on schedule to be completed by Christmas, and this will be followed by 'fitting out' with furniture and equipment. The stand has been partially completed since 2001, when work stopped because of the financial problems of Town, then in the Blue Square Premier, and co-tenants Halifax RLFC. Landlord Calderdale Council ensured building resumed earlier this year on a stand which will seat 3,500 and offer banqueting for 300. It will also provide club offices and shops, corporate boxes, directors' lounge bars, storerooms, kitchens and functions rooms, classrooms and office space for letting. The capacity of The Shay will rise to 10,500'. Wednesday 28 October - Programme Review: Doreen Moon - Just in! Monday 26 October - TT No.66: Justin Holmes - 'There was truthfully little to attract me to this game, apart from a curiosity to visit a club that recently went from being heavily in debt and seemingly constantly on the brink of administration to one that is swimming in money thanks to mysterious Middle Eastern investment...'. Check out Gyles' photos in the NEW User Uploads Album for October 2009... Tuesday 20 October - TT No 61: Andy Gallon - 'This isn't one of the better grounds in the UniBond League. Monday 19 October - TT No.58: Justin Holmes - 'As a result of their clubhouse being burnt to the ground last month, Westfield are currently unable to play their home games at their Parish Field ground, which was a desperately sad occurence for such a friendly and well-run village club as Westfield'. Monday 19 October - TT No.56: Justin Holmes - 'Tiepigs Lane, located close to Bromley in South London, is a decent ground by Kent County League standards - which are generally very low, it has to be said. There's a small covered stand (standing room only), hardstanding on three sides of the pitch, and a welcoming clubhouse and teabar. Considering the location being firmly in suburbia, this is quite an attractive ground, very roomy and mostly surrounded by trees'.
