Thursday 27 August - TT No.15: Andy Gallon - 'There's simply no stopping Scarborough Town. A club record crowd of 261 on an inclement evening saw them open their new ground at the George Pindar Community Sports College, and all but the wheelbarrow load of visiting fans relished a high-quality display of football as the team routed Guisborough Town HC to celebrate in style their home debut in the Wearside League'. Tuesday 25 August - Fixture Information: Brian Buck - Cambridge University Press have brought forward their Kershaw Premier League match against Cottenham United to this coming Friday with a 6.15pm kick off.

Also, as it does not appear in all publications, can I also tell you that Hoddesdon Town play their FA Cup match against Royston Town at Hertford Town this coming Friday as well, with a 7.45pm kick off.

Monday 24 August - TT No.13: Paul Roth - 'For my very first football match of the new season, in my beloved Middlesex County League, a competition I deem to be one of the best in the country, a real feast of entertainment was dished up that contained almost everything a football lover could ever want. Our leading correspondent is back with another terrific report as he takes in the Premier Division match at Broadfields United (v Southall) played on 22/08/09. Complete with the very best matchday photos this is a superb read...you will be on cloud nine (or at least 56 metres!)...  

Monday 24 August - TT No.12: Rob Campion - 'The Midland Combination is a league I have a lot of time for so I had a quick check of the fixtures and plumped for this fixture between unbeaten Shirley Town and Archdale ’73 (played on 22/08/09. There's plenty of goals in this Division 1 match making it another cracking read...

Monday 24 August - TT No.10: Andy Gallon - 'The things I'd heard about Arnold Town's new Eagle Valley stadium hadn't been particularly complimentary. But, on a stunning summer's day of blue skies, warm sunshine,  cooling breezes and country aromas, I really rather liked it. The delightful rural setting, just north of Arnold adjacent to the A614 Nottingham to Ollerton road, certainly helps lift what is otherwise a strictly off-the-peg venue'. Andy is suitably impressed on his visit to Eagle Valley for the Northern Counties East League Premier Division fixture (v Selby Town) played on 22/08/09 ...another superb read! Also contains some terrific matchday images (taken by Emma Jones)...not to be missed!

Saturday 22 August - AFC Hatfield Programme News: Bob Davies - writes: 'Visited AFC Hatfield of the Herts County League Division on Thursday evening and I am pleased to report that they will issuing programmes regulary through this season. However next Wednesday evening (26th) will be the exception with three games in a week proving too much. After this normal service will be resumed.

Saturday 22 August - Retford United FC News: Jon Knight - writes: 'Retford United have a new club shop, opening for the game against Kings Lynn on 31st August, then open on matchdays afterwards.

A new enamel pin badge has been produced for the 2009 season, priced at only £3, and other stock such as trolley key rings, mugs and stickers will be available from the next few days. We also have a new Programme Shop with hundreds of programmes from the Premier League to Non League to browse.

Also, a new look programme has been issued for the two games played against North Ferriby and FC United of MCR (due to pitch problems at Cannon Park - the games were played at Lincoln United), 56 pages priced at £2 - well worth a read.

Friday 21 August - Miles Per Gallon: Andy Gallon - It's all in the lap of the gods! In MPG No.28 Andy  reflects on events making the football news during the opening weeks of the new campaign...with a call for modern technology to improve the game, a cheer for brave Burnley, a Saltergate dedication, praise for Heather and a bit divine intervention in the Scottish Cup fixtures, it's certainly another thought-provoking read.

Thursday 20 August - Scunthorpe United FC: Andy Gallon - writes: 'Scunthorpe United FC: The Coca-Cola Championship club have announced plans to redevelop part of the area around Glanford Park, their home since 1988. Chairman Steve Wharton said the Iron had bought 3.6 acres of land to the west of the stadium, running up to the M181 motorway and rented previously for training and as an overspill car park. Leisure and conference facilities could be built on the site. Wharton also indicated a new ground for United was now "highly unlikely within the foreseeable future".

Thursday 20 August - TT No.9: Mike Latham - 'It's a beautiful tree-lined venture in a rural setting and clearly a huge amount of work has been undertaken to enable the club to meet strict ground grading requirements.  Hard-standing paths have been constructed along with pitch side railings and advertising boards, improved seating in the main stand and new goals put-up'. Mike brings us another superb report and matchday photos as he takes in the Cymru Alliance fixture at league newcomer's Berriew FC (v Penrhyncoch) played last night...not to be missed!

Wednesday 19 August - TT No.8: Andy Gallon - 'As surprises go, it was among the more pleasant. This really is a most attractive enclosure. In a semi-rural location on the northern edge of a now-peaceful village, whose past was built on the muck and brass of the coal and brick industries, St John's Park, a mile west of Ibstock, is immaculate..' There are some stunning ground photos too - no wonder Andy was so impressed! 

Wednesday 19 August - TT No.7: Mike Latham - 'Lostock St Gerard’s have clearly come a long way in a short time, through the West Lancashire League to the Premier Division this season after joining from the Preston & District League. Their ground is at Wateringpool Lane, Lostock Hall between Leyland and Preston. The playing area is immaculate and there is a dressing room block and tea bar and a neatly railed off pitch surround with lots of advertising boards'. Another superb report as Mike takes in the West Lancs League Premier Division fixture at Lostock St Gerards (v Blackpool Wren Rovers) played last night. It's a sad day for Andy Martin's dad, a club member who celebrates his sixtieth birthday tomorrow, having joined the club in 1949 as a sixteen year old. RIP Chisels!'

Saturday 15 August - Chesterfield FC Ground News: Andy Gallon - writes: 'Chesterfield FC: The League Two club have announced their new ground at Whittington Moor is to be called the B2net Stadium. The Spireites have clinched a naming rights deal for the £13m, 10,500-seat venue with Chesterfield-based IT company B2net. The official naming ceremony has taken place already, with the stadium scheduled to be finished for the 2010-11 season. The sponsorship deal, described by the club as "record-breaking", will run for 11 years'.

Wednesday 5 August - Latest Photos: Gyles Basey-Fisher - the latest addition to the FGIF team writes: 'On a day of torrential rain in the Midlands and surrounding areas, I visited Rowley Park on Sat 1st August for the friendly between Stafford Town and Earlswood Town. The previous Wednesday’s game was postponed, due to rain, and I breathed a sigh of relief when I arrived to see the players warming up. The game ended up in a 3-1 win for the visitors in front of 19 spectators, no admission was charged or programme available, though I was given one from their last game of the 2008/09 season. 

With regards to the new ground, the very friendly Chairman told me that all structures were in place, but the delay is in getting electricity and water connected up, they hope to be in their new ground by October'.

Sunday 26 July - Didcot Festival Cup 2009: Rob Davidson - writes:

At the AGM of the Didcot Festival Clubs, it was agreed that this season, the charity to benefit would be UK Cancer Research, and that the donation would be in memory of Kevin Malone. Kevin Malone was a former player of both last seasons finalists, Blewbury and Didcot Town  who died last year from Cancer.

The draw for this seasons competition was as follows. Group A: Cross Keys, Blewbury, Didcot Town (reserves) and Harwell International.
