A downpour of biblical proportions descended on the Huddersfield area around 5pm and I feared the worst as I approached Marsden with the skies still heavy. Fortunately the dark clouds lifted just in time and the Diggle players did a sterling job removing the surface water with buckets and forking away puddles. Diggle are currently groundsharing at Marsden.

Slaithwaite were bottom going into the game though with games in hand with Diggle also in relegation trouble. The visitors went 2-0 up before Diggle pulled level with a goal just before half-time and a penalty midway through the second half. A draw was a fair result from an entertaining game controlled superbly by referee Steve Longmore.

The league runs an informative website and on the basis of this game Iíll be back for more. Marsden Fisheries is recommended for freshly cooked, lightly battered haddock.

Fall Lane, where the football ground is located is on the left-hand side of the A62 when travelling towards Oldham. A post and railed surround and a dressing room block behind the far goal and a car park comprise the main facilities of a scenic ground surrounded by stone terraces, satanic mills and bleak, steeply rising Pennine hills.
