TT No.109: Bob Davies - Sat 23rd February 2013; AFC Hatfield v Aslan; Herts Senior County League Div 1;       Result: 1-4; Programme: £1.50.

A slight detour to my plans for today, mainly caused by the return of the winter weather. I decided to visit AFC Hatfield who were at home to promotion chasing Aslan. AFC Hatfield were originally part of the Hatfield Town umbrella but this season has seen them branch out on their own. A new management team, new players and a new club badge are part of the clubs declaration of independence! They still play at the Birchfield leisure centre, a former home of Hatfield Town. The pitch is post and railed but has nothing in the way of cover which, today, made it feel very cold indeed. The club has always produced a match day programme and today's was available from the club chairman, Neil Clixby. A glossy cover with a colourful insert containing stats, match reports and team line ups, all for £1.50.

On to the game and it was a very wary home side that took an early lead and did their best to retain it. They frustrated the visitors with some sturdy defensive efforts to stem wave after wave of Aslan attacks. It was all going to plan at half time but after the break Aslan turned up the heat and put a lot more pressure on which eventually took its toll on the home side and they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners to maintain the promotion and even championship push.
