Played in very hot conditions at Hinksey's old ground from their OSL days. Splendid old Pavilion. The ground is less than a mile from the City Centre and is next to the Thames close to where it merges with the Cherwell. Christchurch Meadow and the Cathedral are also close by. In fact it is only 50 or so yards from Oxford City's old White House ground.

The game was OK but the heat got the better of a number of players, so much so that the home team had to bring on their coach who played in the football league as far back as 1983/84.

I walked to the ground from my house, about 2 miles of which half was along the river towpath. I had previously seen games on the sports ground in fact as far back as 1981 when matches had always been played on the football and rugby ground but this one was played on the cricket ground (on the other side of the drive from football & rugby ground). Oxford United Youth played here for a number of years in the 1908's and 90's but always used the other "ground". Hinksey said they always used this one in their Senior League days. The pitch surface is akin to a billiard table.
