With 5 Welsh FA Trophy games on in and around Wrexham, I was spoiled for choice here. Lex Glyndwr were always my first choice destination though, and a good decision it turned out to be.

The club play at Stansty Park, which is on the Summerhill Road on the outskirts of Wrexham, and for the level they play at, their set up is pretty impressive. The fully railed off pitch has a 50 seater stand behind the goal nearest the entrance, with changing rooms, a committee room and a tea bar next to that. No floodlights, but a very enclosed feel to the ground with rows of trees along two side.

To the right of the entrance is a more than adequate car park, with a second fully railed off pitch in front of it. Borras Park Albion also play at Stansty Park, so this second pitch could be the one they use.

On the pitch, unbeaten Premier Division side Chirk AAA completely overran their division one hosts in this all Wrexham Area league fixture. I don’t think Lex  had a single shot on goal throughout the entire 90 minutes, such was the Chirk dominance.

The crowd of just 28 included several from Chirk, one of whom was an elderly gentleman who clutched a Brymbo FC match programme throughout. No sign of a programme from Lex, and as far as I can tell they have issued just twice this season. Firstly for a pre-season game with Wrexham, and secondly for a Welsh Cup tie with Ewloe Spartans back in August.

The Wrexham Area league is one of my favourites in Wales, and I am looking forward to my next trip already.
