An early kick off gave me the chance of a United Counties League club double starting out at Potton United.

Visitors Romford got off to a flying start taking the lead in the 2nd minute when a cross from the right deflected off a Potton defender and into the net. Both sides had chances but there were no more goals in the first period. The second half was just 3 minutes old when Potton levelled after a good move down the left found a Potton forward with enough space in the area to tuck the ball under the keeper. Ten minutes later Potton were in front when a good move saw the ball knocked across goal for the forward to side foot in. Within ten minutes Romford were back in the game when a three-man move ended with the ball being stabbed in at the far post. The winning goal came in the 80th minute following a Potton corner which Romford failed to clear and the ball was fired home through a crowd of players after a goalmouth scramble. Potton held on to progress to the next round.

Unfortunately the programmes were sold out half an hour before the start.

This friendly club has a tidy ground with good facilities, a nice stand and clubhouse. It is well worth a visit.
