Derived from a snooker club, hence the 147 bit, Erith 147 FC is located at the end of Ivor Grove, almost opposite New Eltham station.

The entrance leads into a massive car park, and the numerous pitches here lie to your right as you enter, and a big clubhouse straight ahead, which is the focal point for all the various sporting activities staged by the club. Wide screen-TV, and ice cold beer and filled rolls are offered within. Facilities on the field of play are nil, so lucky for me this afternoon's weather was dry and mild.
The tea hatch deserves a special mention for it's superb burgers and toasted rolls that are griddled to order and available throughout the afternoon.

Lying at the wrong end of the KCL Div 2 West, both clubs were today looking to make amends for big defeats last weekend, but the resultant scoreline of 3-1 was most unexpected, especially by yours truly. Two of the goals they scored were sublime.

The more and more I watch football at this level the more I enjoy it. I suppose it's the honesty of the whole thing. Players turn out for the fun of it, and everybody is so friendly and pleased to help the 'ODD' traveller that turn up occasionally at their home matches. Yes, 'HONESTY' is how I would describe it all.

I had e-mailed their secretary, who will remain nameless, a couple of times in recent weeks, and he had assured me not only that there would be a programme today, but that "we always do a programme for every home game...we've been doing them all season" There was NO programme today and they have NOT produced one since the end of last season, when the editor left the club. I did get half a dozen copies of some of last season's production, a very good effort in fact. Why not tell me there was no programme, why lie......it would have made no odds to me either way. I'd have gone somewhere else!

Yes, it's that 'HONESTY' that I love. An oxymoron, if ever I've heard one!
