TT No.150: Robert Davies - Saturday 22nd December 2007; London Lions 2 v Whitewebbs 3;          Herts Senior County League Premier Division; Att: 7 (Seven); Admn: No; Programme: 8 pages free

I took the short trip down the A1 from Stevenage to complete my HSCL Premier grounds. Leaving the A1 at the Boreham Wood exit, Rowley Lane is on the left before you go back over the A1 into Boreham Wood. The entrance to the complex is about 200 metres on the right after entering Rowley Lane.

The Rowley Lane complex comprises several pitches with the London Lions playing on the pitch nearest to the car park. It has a fully railed off pitch with a small stand behind the barriers in between the dug outs. The pitch was in superb condition considering the weather during the previous week.

Lions were suffering from a goalkeeper crisis and despite frantic efforts of their Manager Tony Gold to obtain a replacement, he had to give right mid fielder Max Fieldgrass the gloves after a Friday night call off from the expected custodian. Fieldgrass went onto to have a good debut game between the sticks and was no way at fault with any of the visitors' goals.

Both sides played good football and despite the visitors having more clear cut chances it was London that took a one goal lead at the interval with a goal after 24 minutes.

The bar at the complex opened at half time where hot drinks, crisps and chocolate bars can be purchased.

The home sides’ advantage was doubled within a minute of the restart and things looked bleak for the visitors. On the hour mark Hertford Heath pulled a goal back with a header from a free kick and then it was game on. Chances at both ends but no further goals until the visitors produced the "sting in the tail" in the dying minutes with an equaliser from a corner (another free header) and then took all three points in the ninetieth minute with a shot from just outside the area.

One final note on the day was an injury to Lions' midfielder Jake Lew who suffered a fractured ankle 25 minutes into the first half. I would just like to wish Jake a swift and successful recovery in the New Year.
