A glorious sunny day was matched by this delightful setting. The ground was fully enclosed with a grassed terrace running along one touchline, although as it faced the sun not many used that vantage point. Hedges, conifers enclosed the rest of it. The hill behind gave a superb backdrop with views possible down to the coast at Prestatyn about 10 miles away as the location was well elevated in the hills.
The game lived up to the surroundings and both sides should be credited for a fully committed game on a pretty warm evening, and with long grass slowing the ball down. Cefn could have been six up after twenty minutes, missing a host of chances including a penalty but only hit two. 'Hafl drew level but conceded again before the break. The second half was much the same with Hafl still in the game at 5-3 but then they slipped back as they ran out of steam.
Cefn now play at the village of Llanefydd on the ground of the Clwyd League club. For those who missed out on their former home near Bontnewydd, you missed an idyllic location, but this venue more than makes up for it. I'd recommend a trip, especially when the weather is so kind. Refreshments were available from the cback of a car and included tea (40p) and sweets and biscuits (a few pence each).
I forgot to take my camera, so got no pics but maybe next time.
