TT No.254: Paul Roach - Monday 16 June 2008; Trefnant v Ysceifiog; Llandyrnog & District Villages Clubs SL; Att: approx 50; Result: 2-8; Admn/Prog/Refreshments: N/A; Raffle: £1 a go

Another highly entertaining, if at times, one sided Summer League game was witnessed as the probable champions demolished second from bottom Trefy. The hosts actually took the lead but were six one down by half time. They got a second but Ysceifiog scored two more and had things gone their way a little more often, double figures would comfortably have been reached. They hit the woodwork three times and missed a couple from very close in. To their credit Trefy never gave up and gave as good as they got for 30 mins of the second half despite being five goals behind. Both teams and the ref can be credited for providing such fine entertainment.

The ground is that of Trefnant Village
who play in the Clwyd League. It is quite a large field but only contains one pitch. It is effectively enclosed on three sides by trees/hedgerows with the village hall bounding the other side some fifty/sixty yards back. The changing rooms are housed under this structure, accessed by a side door. The pitch was not roped and there is no cover.

Ysceifiog are now seven points clear of second placed Llanrhaeadr with five games remaining, including a meeting between each other a week on Thursday. It could be the decider if both teams match each other between now and then.
