Ridgeons League Premier Division side Whitton United hosted a strong Chelmsford City X1 to their King George V ground. With a new stadium on the horizon and local boy Kieron Dyer as their main sponsor, the Ipswich-based team are looking to establiosh themselves as the Town's second team.   Although having most of the play, City were unable to break down a resolute Greens' defence until a minute before half time when former Ipswich player Stuart Ainsley opened the scoring. After the interval both sides made numerous changes and Chelmsford's superior strength took over with the Clarets scoring four more before the final whistle. On this form Whitton should enjoy a successfull season in the Ridgeon Premier.
